Saab is a Swedish car manufacturer and currently a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors. Since its inception in 1947, Saab has become known for turbocharging, “quirkiness”, safety and green technology. Saab competes directly with companies like Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo.
Saab cars are subjected to the moose test. Because collisions with moose are particularly dangerous for the persons in a car, both Volvo and Saab have a tradition of taking moose crashes into account when building cars. The Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute has developed an elk crash test dummy called “Mooses”. The dummy (which is made with similar weight, centre of gravity and dimensions to a live elk) is used to recreate realistic elk collisions.
